Dilansir dari Tribun Bogor, seorang warga negara Amerika Serikat bernama Edward (55) langsung kaget ketika tahu rata-rata gaji orang Indonesia.

Edward yang berkunjung ke Kota Bogor ini mengaku bahwa ia pernah bertanya kepada seorang karyawan swasta Indonesia soal gaji dan jawabannya adalah sekitar Rp3 juta per bulan.

Ia pun kaget karena angka gaji tersebut menurutnya sekitar 10 dolar AS per hari atau sekitar Rp 130 ribu per hari.

Dan itu jauh berbeda apabila dibandingkan dengan negaranya.

Ia juga heran kenapa ada orang yang bisa hidup nyaman dengan angka gaji tersebut.

“Rp3 juta per bulan itu sekitar 200 dolar AS lebih per bulan, aku enggak tahu bagaimana orang bisa hidup dengan gaji segitu,” ujar Edward dikutip Tribunjogja.com dari TribunnewsBogor.com, Kamis (10/5/2018).

Selain itu, Edward juga menjelaskan bahwa di negaranya, di Amerika sana, gaji Rp130 ribu itu bukan dalam hitungan per hari, tapi gaji per jam.

Ia melanjutkan, angka gaji tersebut juga merupakan angka gaji minimum seperti untuk pekerja sebagai karyawan di toko.

“Di Amerika, gaji minimum itu 10 dolar AS per jam atau Rp130 ribu per jam, itu minimum, bekerja di toko,” katanya.

Edward pun lebih kaget lagi ketika ia juga mendengar bahwa masih ada angka gaji warga Indonesia yang berada di bawah angka Rp3 juta per bulan.

Meski begitu, ia juga tak malu mengakui bahwa bahwa harga-harga barang dan makanan di Indonesia cukup murah dibanding di negaranya.

“Beli makan di sini tak perlu keluarkan banyak uang, kau bisa makan dengan uang Rp10 ribu (kurang dari 1 dolar AS), makanannya tidak mahal,” ungkap Edward.
